We see a lot of CVs at PSM Recruitment — and a lot of them are almost there. A few small changes can make the difference between “we’ll keep it on file” and “can you interview Wednesday?”.
1. Start with a proper personal profile
2–3 sentences at the top is enough:
-
what you do now
-
what you’re looking for
-
one strength (customer service, admin, leadership, sales etc.)
Example:
“Customer-focused administrator with 3+ years in a busy office, used to high call volumes and CRM systems. Looking for a long-term role in East Kent with progression.”
2. Make it skills-led
Employers scan. If the role needs customer service, CRM, Excel and phone work — put those in a bullet list near the top. Don’t make people search.
3. Show progression
If you’ve gone from temp → permanent → senior, make that obvious. Recruiters love candidates who stick and grow.
4. Keep it UK-ready
Use UK spellings, include locations, and add your notice period if you know it. If you can work immediately, say so — it genuinely helps place you faster.
5. Be contactable
You’d be surprised how many CVs don’t have a mobile number or have an old email. If we can’t reach you quickly, we might have to move on to the next candidate.
If you’re not sure your CV is working, send it over to the team at PSM Recruitment — we can tell you quickly what will help you get more interviews.
